Spring Newsletter 2024

Hello,

Welcome to my spring newsletter of 2024.

Exhibitions

At the start of the Year, I was approached by a large International Law company based in City Square, Leeds to look at the possibility of exhibiting my work in their newly refurbished client floor . The company want to show case the work of local artists to a clientele of people from around the world which is very exciting!

The work that I have put forward includes work from the following collections which all focus on my hometown of Leeds;

‘Heritage Collection’ This is my most recent work in which I explore images of people in Leeds City Centre. This includes images of people  connected to some of Leeds most Iconic places, such as the ‘Leeds Queens Hotel’ and Leeds Corn Exchange. (See above images)

‘The Casanova Studies’ These are drawings and paintings which I made during live rehearsals at Leeds northern ballet School as they prepared for the ballet production, ‘Casanova’

‘Threads through Time’ A body of work made in response to the historical role of Leeds as a city of textiles and fashion. i was inspired by visiting the collections of various Leeds archives such as the ‘Yorkshire Fashion Archive’ and the ‘Marks and Spencer’ Archive, both housed at Leeds University.

In April I am excited to be taking part in a special evening at the Leeds ‘Cut and Craft’ Restaurant. The Leeds restaurant has special ties with the ‘Titanic’ through the famous band master, ‘Wallace Hartley’ who played there as part of a string quartet when it was known as the, ‘Collinson’s Orient’ cafe. Five Leeds artists including myself will be celebrating a special ‘Titanic’ Themed evening on April 14th.

Don’t Forget to visit my art work, Threads Through Time’ on Neville Street, LS1 next to Leeds central Railway Station.

The Art work which  is 7 x2 metres in dimension will be on display along with the work of nine other artists throughout 2024. (See my previous newsletter entitled, ‘Leeds City Council Commission for Neville street.’

You can find out more about the artwork and the process of making it by watching a short video, ‘Threads Through Time’ which is included on the following website. The website also includes the creative journey of the nine other participating artists.
